Prior to September, many baseball fans and experts predicted Terry Francona would participate in the ALCS. And he will. As a broadcaster.
Francona's Boston Red Sox suffered the worst September collapse in major league history, and the team announced last week that it wouldn't exercise his managerial contract options for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
According to FOXSports.com, Francona will join Joe Buck in the FOX broadcast booth for Games 1 and 2 of the ALCS this weekend. Francona will replace Tim McCarver, who is having a minor heart procedure but is expected back for Game 3.
Francona has been rumored to be a candidate for the Chicago White Sox's managerial vacancy, as well as the possible openings with the Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals.
